Do You Own or Lease a Hangar?
If you own your hangar, you can rent nightly space to transient aircraft for a price of your choosing. If you lease your hangar from an FBO,we recommend our pilot-to-pilot exchange network.
1) Nightly Rental - set your own price
If you own or manage your hangar, we will list your nightly vacancies, you set the nightly rate. Listing your hangar with us is free. Update your hangar's schedule online, easily mark your calendar as vacant. When a pilot makes a reservation for your hangar, we process his credit card, inform you of the itinerary, and distribute funds to you minus a 10% coordination charge. Your hangar's access details remain private until payment is received from the pilot. Within our system, such hangars are called Nightly Service Providers or NSPs, who include private owners, developers, maintenance shops, and aero clubs.
2) Hangar Exchange Network - pilot-to-pilot trading
Developed for pilots who do not own their hangar, we created the Hangar Exchange Network. Members of the Network can utilize any other Exchange member's hangar nation wide. There are no nightly charges, members are simply friends sharing space with other friends. EmptyHangar.com is the method by which pilots connect and coordinate with each other. Annual memberships in the exchange program start at $49/year for unlimited exchanges...significantly less than the cost of even one night at most airports.
Be Hangar Savvy
- When you know you will be traveling, or your hangar has vacant space, simply mark those dates 'available' on your EmptyHangar calendar. Now EmptyHangar users from across the country can browse, reserve, pay for, and use your hangar.
- Our network grows daily. Help promote your hangar in your local pilots lounge. We can provide fliers and other promotional materials to help.
- Our software matches hangars and planes of similar size. If you're a Gulfstream owner, you may feel more comfortable letting a Challenger stay in your hangar than a Cessna 182. Understand our Tier system.
- Prepare your hangar for guests. You may need to install a key-box on the door or leave a key at the managing FBO. Any access information in your profile is kept confidential until a member has made a specific reservation.
Other Details
Each hangar is reserved on the first day from 1200 local time to 1159 on the next calendar day. Any changes to your flight schedule that affect your hangar reservation should be directed to our office via email customerservice@emptyhangar.com or phone (719) 422-4700 (after hours voicemail is monitored 24/7)
We are a coordination service only, we connect pilots and hangar owners. Most insurance policies already cover your aircraft's use of hangars nationwide. For peace of mind, we require all pilots to carry Hull Insurance on their aircraft and EmptyHangar may ask for a copy of your certificate for our records (there is no need to add additional insured).
We recommend that pilots tug their own aircraft, or ask their fueling FBO to tug the aircraft, purely for insurance/liability reasons. If you have any questions about insurance or liability, please talk with your agent and feel free to contact our staff. We can discuss the options our current members have exercised, and we can refer you to our supporting insurance firm. (see also terms and conditions)
Inspect the hangar when you are a guest, make sure the facility is in good condition. The final decision to use a hangar belongs to the pilot/airplane owner, please use sound judgment (our refund policy is very forgiving).
